Mark Lowe of Lake Worth, FL, was severely injured at the age of 16 when he was hit by a hit-and-run driver while riding his bike home from work. He spent the next eight months of his life in the hospital and in rehab.

When Mark, now 24, read about the tragedy, it angered him and he felt that something needed to be done. Although Mark was a total stranger to us, he called us one day in May explaining how bad he felt for us, and that he would like to organize a bike ride to benefit Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and was calling us to gain permission to do use Lauren’s name.

Dave spoke with him and decided he was sincere and ended up helping him with the ride. With just one and a half months to prepare, Mark organized the first "Lauren Katzenstein Celebration Ride" which was held on June 29, 2003, one day before Lauren would have turned 16 years old.

Over 500 cyclists participated, raising over $5,000 for the Palm Beach chapter of MADD.

Please join the celebration this year.
